Canon Point: Chapter 91, after Power forms a contract with Denji and disappears
Canon Iteration: CRAU from Apocalypse How
Canon Iteration Explanation: Honestly, Power isn't much different from her regular canon self! She woke up in Apocalypse How after dying, and while she was happy to still be herself, with her personality and memories intact, she was very annoyed that she couldn't use her blood powers freely anymore, and resented being held captive by eldritch horrors. During her time in-game, she lived on her own for the first time, ate a pigeon, butted heads with some ninja turtles, adopted some stray cats, was immediately kicked out of her pet-free apartment, and faced the threat of forgetting Denji a few times. This made her viciously protective of her memories and anything from her past life; she still carries a scribbled drawing of Denji in her jacket pocket in case she forgets him again.
★ Folkmore Roles & Attributes ★
Skills: - Lying!: Power isn't particularly
good at lying and gaslighting, but the sheer breadth of what she will lie about and how deeply she'll commit to her own bullshit is almost a skill in itself. Power will eat the last slice of birthday cake in the fridge, and blatantly deny it while she's still holding the plate and her face is covered in crumbs and icing. In fact, it was
her birthday, and the cake was hers to begin with. How dare you accuse her of thievery!
- Fighting: Power fights like the Tasmanian Devil, and is very good at using her powers to improvise weaponry.
- Good with cats: surprisingly, this one is genuine! Power just really loves cats, and cats seem to like her back. She firmly believes that cats are better than both humans
and devils.
Canon Abilities: - Great sense of smell! Power can recognize people from their scent, even at a distance and through closed doors, and is able to track people across several city blocks.
- As a Blood Fiend, Power can freely manipulate her own blood inside or outside her body, using it to form weapons like swords, hammers, and spears. If she overdoes it and uses too much blood, Power will get anemic and pass out. (In canon, the blood usually shoots out of her wrists, but in-game it'll come from her palms, because I don't want to touch on any triggering imagery).
- She can manipulate other people's blood to a very limited extent through direct contact, although it's difficult and requires a lot more effort. Power mostly uses this to stop other people from bleeding out when they're wounded.
- Power can heal her own physical injuries by drinking someone else's blood, even if she's on the brink of death. If she drinks too much, or drinks the blood of a devil that's stronger than her, Power will get a boost in strength and will sprout extra horns.
- If another devil ingests
her blood, Power can disrupt their regenerative abilities and mess them up from the inside.
- In her true Blood Devil form, Power is a
monstrous, four-armed creature (CW for body horror, there's a whole open ribcage situation going on!) that is capable of
fully manipulating other people'sblood, making it erupt out of their bodies in jagged spikes, and forming any blood pooled around her into stockpiles of weaponry.
Role: Myth
Role Qualities/Attributes: Power will gain a stereotypical devil tail, complete with a spade tip, and over time she may come to resemble her Blood Devil form more, with blackened arms, claws, and longer horns.
Role Reasoning: Power is a selfish, arrogant jerk at the best of times, and she certainly likes the idea of being a megalomaniacal villain; she claims to hate humans on a deep, visceral level, and one of her favourite plans to spread misery across the human race is to somehow become the prime minister of Japan, and use her station to invoke a 100% sales tax, because humans hate paying taxes (no, she does not know how politics or taxes work!).
That said, I'd like for Power to grow past the Myth thing, and start going towards either Legend or Familiar. Power talks a big game, but she isn't actively
malicious, and she cares a lot more about her loved ones than she realizes.
★ Personality ★
Option 2. Choose FOUR-FIVE of the following questions to answer and expand upon. You may choose a fifth question if you feel it is integral to your character's personality. Each answer has a 100-300 word requirement.
OPTION 2 QUESTIONS (PICK 4-5) 100-300 WORD LIMIT EACH:
What was the most traumatic experience your character endured? How did this change them?
During one mission that went completely sideways, Power's team was teleported to Hell and were absolutely slaughtered by the Darkness Devil, one of the oldest and most powerful devils in existence. They barely escaped with their lives, and Power was left deeply traumatized and terrified of the dark afterwards, certain that the Darkness Devil was going to emerge from the shadows to finish the job. She suffered violent night terrors for weeks, and only managed to recover when she leaned into her own bullshit and convinced herself that actually, she'd defeated the Darkness Devil, and it was super cool you guys, the Darkness Devil said she was totally shredded and had a six-pack. The experience forced Power to heavily rely on Denji and Aki for physical and emotional support, and it knocked her habitual arrogance down several notches. She even apologized to Denji (repeatedly!) for making him miss a vacation, and offered him some of her blood as a way to pay him back.
What experience challenged your character's core beliefs? How did they handle this or change from it?
Meeting her pet cat, Meowy! Before she was captured by Public Safety, Power lived in the countryside as a feral, naked menace, surviving off of farm animals and local wildlife, and killing any humans who crossed her path. One day she came across a raggedy stray cat, and on a whim, she named it Meowy and started feeding him, hoping to fatten him up for a future meal. Over time, Power became attached, and Meowy became a beloved pet rather than an appetizer. Until Meowy, Power had believed that everyone's lives were equally fleeting and trivial, including her own, and that nobody's death actually mattered. (Side note, this might be because of the way a devil's life cycle works; devils are effectively immortal, when they're killed on Earth, they're reborn in Hell, and when they're killed in Hell, they reincarnate again on Earth). When Meowy was stolen by the Bat Devil, this nihilistic belief went straight out the window. Power immediately ran off to save the cat, even though leaving the countryside lead to her being captured and brought in by Public Safety. Meowy was the first creature that Power had ever really cared about, apart from herself.
What is the most important and defining relationship(s) in your character's life and why?
Power's most important relationship is with her best friend, Denji! Things were pretty rocky between them at first, since she bribed Denji into helping her rescue Meowy and fully intended to let the Bat Devil eat him, but once they sorted things out, they became quick friends. There's some solidarity between the two of them; fiends and human/devil hybrids are both seen as dangerous and sub-human by their bosses at Public Safety, and if either of them step out of line or try to flee their employers, they'll be killed. Together, they bicker, wrestle and argue like bratty siblings, and Power, who Denji nicknames 'Powy', is always draping herself over Denji like an affectionate cat, and occasionally tries to chew on him and suck his blood (it's okay, he can regenerate!). They're also a couple of real dumdums; Denji and Power basically share one braincell, and they trade it back and forth depending on who has the craziest idea at the moment.
TLDR, Denji was the first human who'd ever reached out to Power and tried to befriend her... hell, he's the first human who treated Power like a person rather than some kind of humanized attack dog. Their relationship may have started out pretty badly, but by the end, Power is ferociously protective of her best friend, and willing to sacrifice her life in order to save his.
What is your character's moral code? Do they have one? Why or why not?
LOL NOPE. The closest thing that Power has to a moral code is her own self-preservation instincts. She is just beginning to learn how to care about other people, and 99% of the time, Power is strictly on Team Power... although Team Power has expanded to include more people lately, so she is getting better!
That said, Power may be a self-centered jerk who claims to hate humanity, but she isn't actually malicious, and she does have a few principles. If someone does her a favor, or goes out of their way to help her, she will try to repay them as best she can.
